The Sociological Research Workshop (ARS) was created in 1995. The ARS was recognized as an “EA” team” (i.e. able to engage in doctorate students training) in 2000. Research is conducted along four main themes: Territories and Societies; Gender, Generations and Temporalities; Contemporary Changes at Work; Health and Society. However research issues addressed cut across these themes, thereby ensuring the cohesion of the team. This research activity report provides a description of our internal organization and indicates an increase both in our staff and publication activity. The ARS is integrated in its local environment and funds an important share of its activity through research contracts. The National Agency for Research (ANR) contract obtained in 2009 is a case in point. Resources have increased during the last period, which has enabled us to launch several projects such as research seminars and conferences. The international policy of our research unit has led to the development of partnerships both in the research and training fields. Finally, the ARS adopted an internal regulation during the past period, which allowed for a better organization of our internal activity.
