The processes involved in the production and spreading of scientific knowledge are currently undergoing major changes. New technologies have not only improved the ratio of successful completions of investigative research, but have also enabled faster dissemination of these findings. Since the first great discoveries and explorations, the discipline of Geography has always played an important role in bringing societies and people together, and therefore,cannot remain incognizant of the new challenges ahead: the need for advances in the search for and the diffusion of scientific knowledge in a more participative, flexible, responsive, and equitable way. In this context, GeoFocus fully intends to be an open, free and specialized scientific journal. Topics cover theoretical, methodological and technical contributions on different aspects of Geographical Information Science, understood as the interface between geographic knowledge and geographic information technologies.
