Trabajos de Geología

Published since 1967, in the past the main objective of the journal Trabajos de Geología was confined essentially to the diffusion of works about the geology of northwestern Iberia and the publication of the research done by the Geology Department of the University of Oviedo (Spain). Now, however, the journal is focused on the publication of any well-qualified work from any field of the Geosciences.

The increasing competition in scientific research demands that researchers to write for journals with an international circulation. In order to attract a broad audience only topics of general interest with a high impact factor are accepted by those journals. So much of the factual data used in the preparation of these broad-brush article are never published. For example, in discussions of regional geology, much pertinent detailed local data is not published and similar losses occur in all branches of the geological sciences. However, these data are essential for the progress of knowledge. Trabajos de Geología does not pretend to compete with international scientific journals, but will insure that the documents and information essential to a complete presentation of data are published.

In addition, MSc Theses, or research work done by PhD students sometimes could provide the basis for an article but many times they are just archived in our library without proper diffusion. Trabajos de Geología vows that it will serve as a vehicle for the publication of these works and will train junior researchers in the preparation of scientific articles.

In accord with these premises, Trabajos de Geología will accept original articles about all aspects of the Geological Sciences. Articles published previously in other journals will not be accepted. Accepted submissions in English, Spanish and French will be published.
