In its 2nd meeting on January 29, 1988, the Council of the Faculty of mining, geology and petroleum engineering of the University of Zagreb decided to issue an annual publication "The Mining-Geological-Petroleum Engineering Bulletin (Rudarsko-geološko-naftni zbornik)". The first volume issued commemorated significant jubilees in 1989:
- 70 years from the establishment of the "Chair and department of mineralogy and geology" at the High technical school in Zagreb,
- 50 years from the establishment of the "Department of mining and metallurgy" at the Technical faculty University of Zagreb,
- 40 years from the establishment of the study of Petroleum engineering in the Mining department of Technical faculty University of Zagreb, and
- 20 years from the establishment of the "Higher mining geological school" in Varaždin, that was at that time called "Higher geotechnical school" and was apart of the Faculty of mining, geology and petroleum engineering of the University of Zagreb.
The bulletin publishes scientific and professional papers in the areas of science respectively: NATURAL SCIENCES (1.03 Geosciences) and TECHNICAL SCIENCES (2.10 Mining, petroleum and geological engineering).
The bulletin is issued annually on December 4th which is St. Barbara's day, the patron saint of miners.
Papers published in the bulletin are indexed in several relevant data bases: GEOBASE, GEOREF, Geotechnical Abstracts, FLUIDEX, Referativnij žurnal, ELSEVIER SCIENCE Geo. Abstracts, Compendex, SCOPUS. We invite domestic and foreign authors to prepare and send papers for publication.
