I. General instructions
(A) Papers must be submitted in their final form, bearing in mind that no further correction/addition is possible.
(B) The manuscript should be submitted for peer review in two printed copies. The final submission of manuscripts revised after review should use the template and web form on http://geolines.gli.cas.cz/
(C) Manuscripts must be written in English.
(D) Texts written with Microsoft Word or supplied in RTF format are processed more readily.
(E) Figures, tables and photos should also be sent via http://geolines.gli.cas.cz/ or by .
II. Illustrations
(A) For figures we greatly prefer single-column (80 mm), or double-column (165 mm) widths. Their maximum height is 243 mm. Computer-generated figures only! Pictures are accepted in: AI, PSD, CDR, PS, EPS, PDF, GIF, TIF, JPEG, and BMP format. Bitmap graphics (PSD, TIF, JPEG, BMP) must be 600 dpi.
(B) The minimum size of letters must be 1.5 mm in either of the final copy widths (80 mm or 165 mm).
(C) Laser-printed illustrations are acceptable. In such cases please provide a disc copy too.
(D) Should a figure include several subfigures, an explanatory text identification should be given each subfigure, by such as a respective symbol in parentheses: (a) or (b).
(E) The abbreviation and the respective explanatory text must be linked by an equal sign, the individual explanations must be separated by a semi-colon: e.g. MLC = Mariánské Láznĕ Complex; p = pegmatites. Text in the figures should be kept to a minimum.
III. Tables
(A) A table should not exceed the printed area of the page. The maximum format of the tables is 167 × 236 mm.
(B) Each table must have a brief and self-explanatory title. Column headings should be brief but sufficiently explanatory.
(C) Units of measurement should be given in parentheses. Vertical lines must not be used to separate columns|-|leave extra space between the columns instead (use e.g. Word for Windows format Simple 1).
IV. References
(A) The following system should be used for arranging references (examples):
Journal papers: Elbaz-Poulichet F., Guan D.M. and Martin J.M., 1991. Trace metal behaviour in a highly stratified Mediterranean estuary: the Krka (Yugoslavia). Mar. Chem., 32: 211-224.
Monographs: Zhdanov M.S. and Keller G.V., 1994. The Geoelectrical Methods in Geophysical Exploration. Elsevier, Amsterdam.
Edited volume papers: Thomas E., 1992. Middle Eocene-late Oligocene bathyal benthic foraminifera (Weddell Sea): faunal changes and implications for ocean circulation. In: D.R. Prothero and W.A. Berggren (Editors), Eocene-Oligocene Climatic and Biotic Evolution. Princeton Univ. Press, Princeton, NJ, pp. 245-271.
Conference proceedings papers: Smith M.W., 1988. The significance of climatic change for the permafrost environment. Final Proc. Int. Conf. Permafrost. Tapir, Trondheim, Norway, pp. 18-23.
Unpublished theses, reports, etc.: Moustakas N., 1990. Relationships of morphological and physicochemical properties of Vertisols under Greek climate conditions. Ph.D. Thesis, Agricultural Univ. Athens, Greece.
(B) For publications in any language other than English the original title is retained. Titles of publications in non-Latin alphabets should be transliterated, and a note such as '(in Czech)' or '(in Czech, with English Abstr.)' should be added at the end of the reference.
V. Miscellaneous
(A) Use dashes to give ranges, either numerical or verbal. Hyphens should be used only to link compound words. Both dashes and hyphens are used without spaces. Example: 65-43 Ma, 700-850 °C, 8-10 kbar, 10-20 km, Cenomanian-Turonian vs. fine-grained, high-temperature-low-pressure (HTLP) etc. Mathematical signs (+, -, =, ±, >, <) are preceded and followed by spaces, e.g. 500 ± 0.6, k1 = k2. In numbers, thousands must be separated by a comma, e.g. 15,000.
