Travelling from an EU country to the UK
Do I need a visa to enter the UK for my secondment?
→ No
If you’re an EU citizen, visits (for family, tourist or, in specific and limited cases, study or professional reasons) of a maximum duration of 6 months are not subject to a visa requirement. Visas are not needed for simple professional visits.
However, travellers will not be able to use their national ID card and will need a passport from 1 October 2021.
Travelling from the UK to France
Do I need a visa to enter France for my secondment?
→ No
British nationals who wish to visit France for a short stay do not need a visa. However, they will have to:
- show their passport
- be able to prove that they have enough money for their stay (€65 per day)
- carry a certificate of insurance
