Development of laser spectrofluorimetric analysis methods

Analysis of phytosanitary residues:

We develop sensitive and rapid methods for the analysis of pesticide residues in environmental matrices (water, soil, air...) by laser photoinduced fluorescence. Several studies have already been published on this subject, and we are currently working on new evolutions of this method in collaboration with the universities of Dakar and Paris Marne-la-Vallée:

  • Development of a new set upusing simultaneously two excitation sources and coupling to liquid chromatography to obtain more sensitivity and specificity
  • Use of chemometric techniques for spectrum analysis, in the case of pesticide mixtures for direct analysis, or in the case of incomplete HPLC separation .
  • Monitoring the photodegradation kinetics of pesticides in natural waters and identifying formed photoproducts that may be more toxic than the original pesticide.

Trace hydrocarbon analysis:

We are working on the development and improvement of the performance of an online detector (used as an alert station) for traces of hydrocarbons:

  • Correction of interference induced by suspended matter on the accuracy of the determination of the hydrocarbon content. Measurement of the exciter diffusion and development of a correction protocol.
  • Development of a chemometric approach for the analysis of ydrocarbon mixtures.
  • Implementation of the PIF method in the detector to measure traces of pesticides.
