Study of the Speckle of diffusing media

Objective

The analysis of the speckle field generated by a diffusing medium can potentially provide a wealth of information on this medium. Thus, in the absence of an imaging system between the medium and the observation plane, the characteristics of the speckle such as size, contrast, polarization and grain dynamics are all variables that are dependent on the diffusion properties and dynamics of the medium.

Collaborations

The team is coordinator of the European project ERANETMED 2017-2020 (ANR funding) "BIOSMAN" (Towards real-time monitoring of Bacillus thuringiensis biopesticides production using laser Speckle imaging within a Mediterranean area network). This project is being carried out in collaboration with the Biotechnology Centre of Sfax (Tunisia) and the Laboratory of Biophotonics and Ionizing Radiation of Saint Joseph University in Beirut (Lebanon). This project aims to develop an optical method for monitoring biopesticide production. More precisely, it is a question of using the polarized speckle to image and study the protein crystals produced by the Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria during sporulation.

The team participated (2014-2015) in the Hubert Currien CEDRE Partnership (international collaboration program) entitled "Non-invasive optical imaging of biological structures by speckle field analysis and applications".
