The project team met again from 14 to 16 October at the Morlaix University Institute of Technology and in the surrounding area, with the following programme: 

  • Tour of the Bord à Bord workshops: seaweed washing with seawater at the Roscoff site, processing/packaging at the Taulé site
  • Presentation of progress and results on the various topics of the project:
    • Improvement and stabilisation of farming conditions at France Haliotis with the help of LEMAR
    • Advances by IRDL and LBCM on the results of pre-treatment processes and initial protein extraction tests using the high-pressure process, with encouraging results
    • Initial results from STLO, NuMeCan and PNCA on the digestibility study of algae enriched or not enriched with protein, in raw form and then processed into pellets or purée (micro-cut)
    • Progress on organoleptic testing and implementation of the 2026 recipe formulation schedule with Bord à Bord and Brest University Hospital
    • Results of the LEGO qualitative study of the seaweed industry, healthcare professionals and the catering sector
    • Continuation of the LCA study by Actalia on the value chain: washing, processing and packaging stages
    • Progress in qualitative studies on the acceptability of seaweed as a source of protein among senior citizens and the general public
  • Acculturation of the project team on research methods in the humanities and social sciences, as well as on algae biology (effects of seasonality on biochemical and biological characteristics)
  • Presentation to students studying Responsible Project Management and Entrepreneurship on the GACO course in Morlaix
  • Update on the latest AFNOR standardisation projects with CEVA
  • Hosting of a dynamic round table discussion with stakeholders in the seaweed industry (replay coming soon):
