Work Package 2: Innovative solutions to match territorial challenges

Development of science-based and market-driven solutions

(Mar 2026 – Feb 2027) 

This phase develops science-based, market-driven and policy-oriented solutions. It combines laboratory research, innovation calls, market engagement and decision-support tools to identify viable reuse pathways for marine sediments.

Activity 1: Lab research and ecotox tests

Based on different samples collected from several sites across the four countries of the project

Sediment characterisation:

• geotechnical characterisation
• chemical characterisation

Formulation tests:

• treatment tests
• eco-toxicological analyses (contamination assessment)

Activity 2: Call for solutions: for market-based innovations

Encourage the development of scalable, practical and marketable solutions 

• Launch of a European call for solution seeking both existing and emerging technologies

Foster the capacity of public authorities and key players to establish favorable conditions for adapting local value chains

• Demonstrate the feasibility and relevance of pilots and encourage their deployment on a larger scale
